Business as Usual

March for our Lives

I took this image at MARCH for our LIVES

This is an excerpt from a poem called Business as Usual. I wrote it in 2001 after the World Trade Center attacks on 9/11. The message still rings true today in 2018. Why do we insist on remaining the same?

Business as Usual

everyone is coming together

everything is falling apart

everyone’s vision is different

everything is about the heart

but if not for the dreamers

would life become nothing

if not for the love inside

could we continue to survive

oh well — business as usual

not for you — any more

no — not for you

but you still believe it the same
