Commonly known as the salad turnip, this Japanese turnip is very versatile. I cooked mine as a side dish for Thanksgiving but it is REALLY good in a salad or as a snack or to use on your crudités platter. It is sort of like eating a piece of apple because of the crunch factor which I am big of.
The Hukurei turnip is high in vitamin C, potassium, and calcium. To prepare, just remove the waxy skin. Slice and dice however you like. The second photo is how I prepared it as a side, slightly boiled. Do not overcook! I added fresh garlic and shallot to mine with a little sea salt and black pepper. Enjoy!
