FUEL: Steamed Bok Choy and Tomato

FUEL: Stuff we put in our body

Steamed bok choy and native tomato, a plain and simple favorite for me.

Bok Choy, a member of the cruciferous vegetable family, is chock full of vitamins and antioxidants. Benefits include Omega-3’s, Zinc, and Vitamin A. Bok Choy is included in many studies about cancer prevention. #FUEL #LetsGoUp #Yesrising

AWE and HEALING

What I think about AWE:

Heal

Awe and Healing

I believe that when we are in nature, or exercising or practicing yoga or meditating or praying —that we can naturally elevate ourselves into a state of “Awe”. In that place of recognizing something greater than ourselves — where something vast and magical and mysterious is happening — where all our blood is pumping through our body’s cells in wonder and reverence for life—that we open up energy channels where the “aliveness of life” heals.

“That awe, wonder and beauty promote healthier levels of cytokines suggests that the things we do to experience these emotions – a walk in nature, losing oneself in music, beholding art – has a direct influence upon health and life expectancy,” is what UC Berkeley psychologist Dacher Keltner has also said on the subject.

My prediction is that in time our “way out thinking” about energy and healing will become synonymous with medical research findings — that we have everything within us we need to heal. So why not begin today? Namaste. ‪#‎LetsGoUp‬

There is a 30 second video on the Yesrising Facebook page where I explain my thought on Awe and Healing.

FUEL: Super Easy Sauté

Eat Your Veggies

Super easy Sauté

Mushrooms, spinach, onion and tomato. A super easy side dish and wonderful in a grinder, sub, or hoagie. I love to mix this in with whole grain pasta or rice. Play around with your ingredients!

Heat extra virgin olive oil in a salute pan, add all ingredients and cook until desired tenderness.

Eggplant and Olive Oil

roast veggieEnjoy roasting eggplant with a little olive oil…I keep it in the fridge after preparing and it lasts a few days. This is a good quick addition for me to use on a salad or in sandwiches or with some brown rice. It’s easy to roast just about anything and it’s fun! Namaste – the roaster in me sees the roaster in you. 🙂

Cut up your veggies and toss in some extra virgin olive oil, a little salt and pepper or spice of your desire. On a cookie sheet in a 350 degree oven until fork tender.

Quick Summer Night Salad

saladIt’s been so hot and humid the last few weeks, this has been a great go-to meal. Last night’s dinner: Egg, wilted kale, cherry tomato with basil, and cucumber – with lemon and olive oil. Mmmmmmm.

I find all of these items at the local farmer’s market and vary what’s on the plate to what is most fresh and available at the time. #ToGoodHealth.
